Compare 4 best camping bed cots
Let’s face it, someone needs to carry this cot from the car to the campsite. Even if that it just a 100 yards, you want a cot that does not require an entire scout troop to lift. Of the four cots we reviewed the Coleman Pack-Away Cot with Side Table is the lightest, weighing in at 13 lbs. Even though it is light, this cot can hold up to 300 lbs., so it is a true workhorse.
While the Coleman ComfortSmart Camping Cot is only 14 lbs., its biggest drawback is the side as the cot only accommodates someone up to 5’ 7”. As such, this cot is good for kids, but might not be the best choice for adults. Well, the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot and the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot were never going to win this review and neither was designed to. At 26 lbs. and 40 lbs. respectively both cots are by far the heaviest of the four we reviewed. However, if you factor in these cots can accommodate two people then maybe it is not such a bad deal after all.
You are just visiting, so you don’t want to spend a fortune on something you won’t use every day. Coleman comes out on top here. The brand is known for their quality and their affordability and depending on your needs you can’t go wrong with the ComfortSmart Cot or the PackAway Cot with Side Table. In fact, the pack away might have the slight edge due to its larger size and the side table, but in the end, it depends on what you need and either choice is great value for money.
This is not to say the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot and the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot with Side Tables and 4D Battery Pump are not excellent cots or a good value. But they are designed as a double bed in a world of singles, so unless you plan to use it for two, your best bets are the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot and the Coleman Pack-Away Cot with Side Table.
This is where the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot and the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot with Side Tables and 4D Battery Pump reign supreme. Both cots were built for Paul Bunyan and the designers thought of everything. Both have a maximum capacity of 600 lbs. and are very hard to break – we tried. Even the air mattress of the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot with Side Tables and 4D Battery Pump in nearly indestructible.
If you are not looking for indestructible, but you want a heavy duty cot to handle most of your camping needs then the Coleman PackAway Cot with Side Table is a good choice. While this cot is not the behemoth that is the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot, it is good choice for the avid camper.
On the other hand, the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot is not really meant for adults. Sure it can hold up to 275 lbs. and the springs do make it comfortable, but the springs tend to wear out over time and will either begin to creak or even break depending on how much you use it.
The Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot comes out on top here as well. But being it is the most expensive cot we reviewed, you would expect a lifetime warranty. That being said, Coleman is known for their quality and their 1-year warranty will be enough in most cases.
So we have looked at portability, value, durability, and the warranties. However, deciding which camp cot is best really depends on how you plan to use it. For me the best choice is the Coleman PackAway Cot with Side Table, it is a high-quality cot at a great price and can handle just about anything I would plan to through at it.
And the Winner is?
For me, the winner is the Coleman PackAway Cot with Side Table, not only is it comfortable, but it is also built for adults. This is not to say the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot or the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot are not good products, they just weren’t the right choices for me.
Whilst my preference is the Coleman Pack-Away Cot with Side Table, you should get the cot that is right for you. If you are buying a cot for your son or daughter, then the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot is the way to go. If you need a cot that is a bit more durable, then you can’t go wrong with the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot or the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot with Side Tables and 4D Battery Pump. All four cots are great choices, just remember to get the right one for you.
As you conduct your due diligence, make sure to check customer reviews on Amazon and other websites. All four of the cot are highly rated and have great reputations, but the key is to look for other customers who will use the cot the same way you will.
Remember to check out the terms. Is shipping included, what is the warranty and most importantly will your insurance cover the purchase. Let’s face it, we live in the real world, so make you check the fine print first.
Lastly, is the cot you want in stock? If not, are you willing to wait until it comes in? Making sure you know when your choice will ship and be delivered to you is important as who wants to keep sleeping on the ground?
All four cots are durable, comfortable, and will help you get off the cold, hard ground. In the end, the choice is yours. Are you looking for the ultimate in camping luxury? Then go with the Coleman Queen Airbed Cot with Side Tables and 4D Battery Pump. Do you need an indestructible cot for two people? Then go for the Teton Sports Outfitter XXL Camp Cot.
Or are you looking to get a cot for your kids? Then the Coleman ComfortSmart Cot is a good choice. If you are an adult seeking a good quality cot for yourself? Then go for the Coleman PackAway Cot with Side Table.
